Gosh, that was an interesting read. I find it... almost confronting how so many social expectations and beliefs are hidden within a character, particularly when dealing with female characters who dare not follow their expected pathway. Such a thought-provoking read!
Thanks, and I suppose that’s one way of looking at it Vanessa. I think weirdly Mina is the one who defied the odds far more, defying expectations by being as clever as she was, same with Jonathan.
Lucy oddly enough, strikes me as being just like a lot of women I meet these days. Dunno if it makes me weird but I think that saddens me a little.
That said Lucy is a wonderful character, and shows the genius and foresight of Bram Stoker.

So good. I always side eyed Lucy. Thanks for this awesome deep dive into her character
Thanks, I like her but there’s some side-eye worthy stuff about her.
The vampire version of her takes every negative trait and cranks it to an eleven.
Like an evil twin 😬
Like that, I think that’s how it is supposed to work with undeath
The "bloofer lady". What a novel!
Agreed it was one of the greatest.
Interesting
Merci
