The animated movie “Tarzan”, is based on the character of the book series of the same name, who first starred in the book “Tarzan of the Apes.” The movie starts very much identical to that at the beginning of the book, with Tarzan’s parents, who in the book are named John and Alice Clayton, With John being the Viscount Greystoke.
"So here we see some respect to the original source material, and some artistic liberties taken to the origin."
It should be noted here that Edgar Rice Burroughs kept a close eye on what Hollywood did to Tarzan when he was alive, and even produced a film adaptation of the story at least once himself. Given that Disney actually explores Tarzan's backstory in some detail, which the vast majority of the live-action adaptations do not, he would probably be tolerant of it, if not pleased.

Interesting Burroughs sounds like he was really smart about things and quite open minded on this sort of thing. I could stand to learn from him.
He wasn’t smart about everything he did, of course…
Fair, though there’s still lessons to be learnt about not being inflexible on some things like adaptations.
Some things he was pretty erm strange about.
