Hey Mark! I really want to get your impressions on a point John and I make in this podcast; about starting out with writing and the importance of standalone stories. I've a post planned on Saturday about this.
Glad to hear you're already inspired, ive been planning on writing a whole series breakdown of some sort for some time, just been part procrastinating and part tinkering with how I want to do it. Right after I watched the series I was so captivated I quickly bought up the books the series came from, and have read through them now at least twice. There's so much that can be said about how all the pieces fall as the story progresses, and its had a great impact on my outlook on the world. Hope you get a lot out of it.
I did, it wasn’t my cup of tea. I found the characters too overpowered, and would have preferred steady power-progression and better villains like in FMAB or something.
Yeah, though I love FMAB recommend that one. But I’ll check out Frieren again since people love it so much. Might be just a matter of giving it a second view and needing to be more open minded and not have too high hopes.
I was given the impression it was as good as Superior+ (an impossible bar).
I can’t compare it to other anime productions, since it’s my first dive into Anime TV (not films) but I say give it another chance. It’s starts slow and the titular character can seem emotionless, but it’s just that she’s a long-lived elf.
I meant her apprentice, not her. As to Elves in anime I like Record of Lodoss War’s Deedlit, and as far as anime goes Yu Yu Hakusho is quite beautiful as is Zeta Gundam and G Gundam and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Thoughts?
Very nice to hear Carter is over halfway through Galactic Heroes. Yangs decision at Vermillion will fascinate me forever.
Haha yeah, and i just started. Just past the first episode, it was good. Gonna have to write about it later.
Carter really knows a lot more than I do about manga tbh X).

Hello 👋🏻
Question: Have you heard of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End? It’s on Netflix, but it’s quite good. 👍
I did, it wasn’t my cup of tea. I found the characters too overpowered, and would have preferred steady power-progression and better villains like in FMAB or something.
That and the unemotional character annoyed me.
That’s a shame. But to each his own.

Oh, my bad. Fern is definitely traumatized and is more on the serious side, but she does smile and emote as the series goes on.
